 Our Family

Gianni Caschera

Born and raised in Toronto, Gianni was one of 6 kids. He later moved to Montreal where he lived and worked for 15 years, eventually joining his father and sister in the olive oil business in 2013. He would stay at the family cottage in Baysville during the market season and travel with his father to the orchards each autumn to partake in the harvest.

As the name "Attilio" became more familiar, and synonymous with quality, Gianni moved to Muskoka to dive into the business full time. Talking to people at markets, delivering orders to one of the many local stores that carry our products, Gianni continues to grow his fathers legacy each year.

The upkeep of the legacy orchards is very important to him as well. Traveling to Italy once or twice twice a year is crucial, maintaining his ties to the land, and family that still lives in the area.

Gianni carries forward the quality consistency and love for the orchards that his father passed along and it shows in the success of the business today.

Jodi Paul

Jodi was born and raised on a farm just outside the small town of Magnetawan. Moving to Toronto in 2000 she she worked in many industries, all primarily hospitality.

After managing a very busy restaurant in downtown Toronto, Jodi decided it was time to return to the farm. The countryside had always been calling. She started selling her photography at the local summer markets, and that is where she met Gianni.

She joined the business full time in 2016 and helped it to grow, designing a website, building online sales, creating social media accounts and bringing the business into new realms.

Her love and experience in customer service, hospitality, and being outdoors was an ideal fit. Despite not having Italian heritage, Jodi has become just as well versed in the production of olive oil as anyone else in the family, traveling to Italy for the harvest each year. Jodi is the creative force in the business, carrying on a vital role 'behind the scenes'.

Attilio is not only our namesake, but he was the heart of the business and the reason we're here today.

Attilio Caschera
(1935 - 2016)

Born in the very same house and orchards we travel to each year, Attilio was one of 10 children. There were not many opportunities for schooling in this rural part of Italy, so he became the shepherd to his parents flock of sheep, driving them high into the mountains to graze, and then down to the olive orchards to 'trim' the grass. The olive trees were an integral part of the household and every year the family worked together to produce the oil. The trees had already been in the family for several generations by that time.

After World War II Attilio found work in Germany, and then immigrated to Canada in 1965 with his wife and the first two of his (eventual) 6 children. For many years he did not return to Italy, working hard to support the family did not offer much chance to travel, but he would return at any chance he could.

It wasn't until after he retired that he saw the opportunity in the orchards, knowing how much people appreciated a quality olive oil. He started small, and when two of his children joined in, the business grew. He never slowed down, not even in the final year of his life, when, battling leukemia.

Attending the markets was something Attilio lived for. He loved talking and joking with his customers and fellow market vendors. He will always be missed, but he will always be connected to the business: through his name, the orchards that he passed down, and through the teachings, memories and the love of olive oil he passed on to his family.
